Unigestion is created in Geneva, laying the foundations for an independent investment holding company built on long-term thinking, entrepreneurial discipline and client alignment.
1976
Bernard Sabrier takes the lead of Unigestion at the age of 23, progressively shaping the firm into an independent investment manager active across Private Equity, Equities and Multi-Asset (now Wealth Management).
1985
Unigestion becomes one of Europe's earliest investors in hedge funds, laying the foundations of a culture of innovation and intelligent risk-taking that would shape the holding company's investment philosophy.
1988
Unigestion acquires a controlling position in BSI Banca della Svizzera Italiana, later sold to Société de Banque Suisse, marking one of the significant Swiss financial transactions of that period.
1990 — 2010

Unigestion develops a distinctive approach to listed equities and becomes a pioneer in low-volatility equity investing, combining risk awareness, quantitative research and long-term discipline.
1996
Unigestion sells its banking activity to Republic National Bank, led by Edmond Safra, while continuing to develop its investment management expertise.

Unigestion launches its first SRI fund and progressively integrates ESG principles across investment processes, reinforcing the belief that sustainability is a long-term driver of risk management and value creation.

Unigestion strengthens its international footprint with the creation of Unigestion Asia Pte Ltd in Singapore, supporting the holding company's presence across Europe, North America and Asia.

Sagard and Unigestion announce the combination of their private equity platforms, creating Sagard Private Equity Solutions, a global middle-market private equity investment solutions platform.
Unigestion's historical multi-asset and wealth management activity is structured as U Wealth SA, a dedicated FINMA-regulated wealth management entity serving private clients.

Sagard and Unigestion announce the closing of their partnership transaction. Unigestion Private Equity is integrated into Sagard Private Equity Solutions, while existing programmes and mandates continue with continuity and investment discipline.
